THE VIABILITY ANALYSIS OF THE ACEHNESE TRADITIONAL CULINARY ENTREPRENEURS AFTER 10 YEARS TSUNAMI DISASTER IN BANDA ACEH

Abstract


Empowerment of local wisdom-based economy can improve the welfare of society which is characterized by an increase of household incomes and optimization of local communities’ empowerment. Each area in Indonesia has its own local wisdom. One of the local policy that can be empowered is a traditional culinary. Aceh province which has a center activity in its capital, Banda Aceh, has various traditional remarkable foods, such as asamkeueung, keumamah, kuahblangoeng, ayamtangkap, udangsabee, and asamudang. The aim of this research is to analyze the factors that influence the viability of the entrepreneurs’ Acehnese traditional culinary restaurant in Banda Aceh. The research conducted on the entrepreneurs of Acehnese cuisine restaurants in Banda Aceh. The reasons for selection of Banda Aceh as a research location is because Banda Aceh is the capital of Aceh province which is the center of government and business activities in Aceh, on the other hand, after the earthquake and tsunami disaster, Banda Aceh has become one of the tourist destinations that most visited by both domestic tourists and foreigners. The research methodology used is qualitative description. The research results obtained from observation, in-depth interview and relevant theory that shows that there are two factors that affect the entrepreneurs’ viability of Acehnese culinary restaurant in Banda Aceh, namely, the first is external factors; factor of competitors and tax. The second is internal factor; consists of raw material availability factor, factor of venture capital, factor of simple material process, factor of labor, factor of received turnover and factor of promotion. In short, the entrepreneurs’ viability of Acehnese traditional culinary restaurant in Banda Aceh is influenced by two factors: external factors and internal factors of 10 years after tsunami disaster.
