FAKTOR-FAKTOR KECEMASAN BERBICARA BAHASA INGGRIS PADA SISWA KELAS IX MTsS KRUENG RAYA KABUPATEN ACEH BESAR
Abstract
Penelitian ini menitikberatkan pada bahasan tentang faktor penyebab kecemasan berbicara bahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas IX MTsS Krueng Raya. Untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris perlu untuk mengetahui penyebab kecemasan tersebut baik dari sisi internal maupun dari sisi eksternal siswa. Dengan menggunkan metode kualitataif deskriptif, data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui instrumen angket tertulis dan observasi langsung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tiga hal utama penyebab timbulnya rasa cemas saat melakukan English speaking, satu penyebab berasal dari faktor internal dan dua penyebab dari faktor eksternal. Faktor penyebab internal berupa kurangnya kosa kata (100%). Sedangkan faktor eksternal berupa respon negatif dari teman (100%) dan saat kehilangan konsentrasi (100%). Hasil temuan lainnya adalah kurangnya kemampuan public speaking (90%) dan rendahnya motivasi untuk mempelajari bahasa Inggris (90%). Dari hasil temuan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa para guru perlu segera menemukan cara untuk mengatasi kedua faktor tersebut dengan menciptakan solusi atas masing-masing persoalan terkait dengan faktor penyebab kecemasan dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris.

This study focuses on discussing the factors that cause anxiety about speaking English in class IX students at MTsS Krueng Raya. In improving language skills, it is necessary to find out the cause of anxiety both from the internal and external side of students. By using descriptive qualitative methods, this research data was collected through written questinnaires and direct observation. The research results show that there are three main causes of anxiety when speaking English, one cause comes from internal factors and two causes come from extenal one. Internal causal factors include lack of vocabulary (100%). Meanwhile, external factors include negative responses from friends (100%) and loss of concentration (100%). Other findings include a lack of public speaking skills (90%) and low motivation to learn English (90%). From these findings it can be concluded that teachers need to immediately find ways to overcome these two factors by creating solutions to each problem related to the factors that cause anxiety in speaking English.
