Abstract

Pemanfaatan limbah kayu dan abu sekam padi sebagai bahan alternatif dalam pembuatan bata ringan ramah
lingkungan di Gampong Kajhu, Kabupaten Aceh Besar, tahun 2022, dilakukan untuk mengatasi
permasalahan limbah sekaligus menyediakan material bangunan yang lebih ekonomis dan berkelanjutan.
Limbah kayu dan abu sekam padi yang melimpah di daerah ini diolah menjadi bahan baku pengganti
sebagian semen dan agregat dalam pembuatan bata ringan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potensi
penggunaan limbah tersebut dalam menghasilkan bata ringan yang memenuhi standar kekuatan dan ramah
lingkungan.Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengujian karakteristik fisik dan mekanik bata ringan dengan
variasi komposisi limbah kayu dan abu sekam padi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan
limbah kayu dan abu sekam padi dapat menurunkan berat jenis bata ringan serta mengurangi penggunaan
bahan baku konvensional. Meskipun kekuatan tekan bata ringan menurun pada komposisi limbah yang
tinggi, komposisi optimal masih dapat dicapai untuk memenuhi standar mutu. Pemanfaatan limbah ini juga
memberikan nilai tambah ekonomi bagi masyarakat setempat dan mengurangi dampak negatif lingkungan.
Dengan demikian, pemanfaatan limbah kayu dan abu sekam padi sebagai bahan alternatif bata ringan di
Gampong Kajhu berpotensi mendukung pembangunan berkelanjutan melalui pengelolaan limbah yang
efektif dan penyediaan bahan bangunan ramah lingkungan. Implementasi teknologi ini dapat meningkatkan
kesejahteraan masyarakat dan mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan akibat limbah kayu dan sekam padi.
