PERANCANGAN ARSITEKTUR PARTISIPATIF SEBAGAI UPAYA PENINGKATAN KUALITAS LINGKUNGAN PERMUKIMAN DI DESA MON IKEUN KECAMATAN LHOKNGA KABUPATEN ACEH BESAR

Abstrak

Kualitas lingkungan permukiman yang rendah masih menjadi permasalahan utama di berbagai wilayah
urban dan peri-urban di Indonesia. Permasalahan ini meliputi keterbatasan infrastruktur dasar,
kepadatan bangunan, hingga kurangnya ruang terbuka yang layak. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan
untuk meningkatkan kualitas lingkungan permukiman melalui pendekatan perancangan arsitektur
partisipatif, yakni sebuah metode yang melibatkan masyarakat secara aktif dalam proses perencanaan,
perancangan, dan pembangunan ruang hunian serta fasilitas penunjangnya. Metode pelaksanaan
meliputi identifikasi masalah melalui diskusi kelompok terfokus (FGD), survei partisipatif, dan
pemetaan sosial-fisik (IMAP). Hasil dari tahap ini kemudian dijadikan dasar dalam perumusan desain
arsitektur yang responsif terhadap kebutuhan lokal. Lokasi pengabdian berfokus pada kawasan
permukiman padat di pinggiran kota Yogyakarta sebagai studi kasus. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan
bahwa keterlibatan masyarakat secara langsung dalam proses perancangan tidak hanya meningkatkan
kualitas lingkungan fisik, tetapi juga membangun rasa kepemilikan, solidaritas sosial, dan keberlanjutan
pengelolaan lingkungan. Pengalaman ini sejalan dengan temuan Najaba & Swasto (2024) yang
menekankan pentingnya partisipasi dalam program penataan permukiman, serta penelitian oleh
Vitasurya et al. (2024) tentang model perencanaan berbasis komunitas. Pendekatan partisipatif terbukti
efektif untuk menciptakan lingkungan hunian yang layak, sehat, dan berkelanjutan, sekaligus
memperkuat kapasitas masyarakat sebagai subjek dalam pembangunan.
