Abstract

Many problems can occur due to labor pain that is not treated properly. Pain during labor is caused by uterine contractions which can result in increased activity of the sympathetic nervous system which can affect psychological conditions including the mother's perception of pain and anxiety during labor. Various methods are used to reduce labor pain, including non-pharmacological methods using Hypnobirthing techniques . The aim of the research is to determine the effect of implementing Hypnobirthing on reducing pain during the birth process at the Talitha Clinic in Medan in 2021. This research uses a quasi-experimental method with one group pretest and post test without control design. The population was 15 mothers giving birth in September 2021. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with paired match pair tests. The results of the study showed that of the 15 respondents, before being given Hypnobirthing, the majority of respondents experienced severe pain, 6 people (40.0%) and the minority experienced a reduction in unbearable pain, 9 people (60.0%). After being given Hypnobirthing, the majority of respondents experienced moderate pain, 14 people (93.3%) and the minority experienced severe pain, 1 respondent (6.7%). The average pain sensation before being given Hypnobirthing was 2.60. The average pain after being given Hypnobirthing was 1.07 with a Ï-value of 0.000 (<0.05. The conclusion shows that there is an effect of reducing pain before and after Hypnobirthing on women giving birth at the Talitha Clinic. It is recommended that health workers improve their skills (attend training and seminars) in efforts to assist childbirth using the Hypnobirthing method.
